Own parliament and more independendence for Scotland: VICTORY! “Rebirth of a nation”, “ A great day for Scotland” – only two headlines of Scottish papers in relation to the glorious voting for a Scottish parliament (the first one since around 300 years) and more independence for a nation after many centuries of suppression by the british crown. Late now “Alba”may get the respect and acknowledgement which is obvious for all other nations.
Since around 20 years the former “Royal High School” in Edinburgh was reserved as building for a Scottish parliament, but the voting in march 1979 was a flop and so the grey house is “sleeping” since these days. New life may fill it up from the year 2000, as the “First Minister” of “new” parliament Donald Dewar, actually Scotland-minister of Labour government, has good chances.
For long years “Scottish National Party” (supportes from many of our members) did not show enough “power”, but now all Scottish patriots have to thank Ex-“Mister Bond”, often proudly wearing his kilt, with his excellent engagement could motivate around 75% of Scottish people for a clear “Yes!”. If he accepts, we will honour his outstanding merits with the order’s Grand Star of Merit, the highest available decoration. God and St. Andrew bless you, Sean!
Spotlight With a little bit of proudness also our order can say, that he had made a small contribution for Scotland’s independence: After the victory of Labour Party our Grand Master wrote a letter to Prime Minister Tony Blair. Beside best congratulations the Grand Master emphatic requested effective measures for more independence of Scotland and its further development as a nation, which has legitimate claim to be respected like all other European nations. The prime minister’s commissioner for Scotland answered detailed and expressed Mr. Blairs special thanks for the suggestions and promised, to study them with greatest interest.
Commendable initiative: Priory of Finland By the efforts of Chev. Juha Suatmaa BA, MA, KSA, Training Manager at the Center for Maritime Studies of the University of Turku, a priory of Finland was established. D., a well-known scientist in medicine. Our new menbers had informed us, that the work against drugs would be the main target of their activities. We thank Chev. Suotmaa heartly for his engagement and hope to hear more from our confreres in Finland next time.
Ven. Mother Teresa & Jaques Cousteau: A last “Goodbye…!” In deepest sadness we have to inform abot the death of two of our most prominent members: VEN: MOTHER TERESA MC OF CALCUTA, nobelprize-winner and Dame Grand Cross of our order, gave back her life to our Good Lord. As possible we also in future will support her congregation “Missionaries of charity” as in past. The Grand Master met her 1985 in Vienna, when the Austrian branch-office was opened and as a “treasure” he keeps the personally letters of this “living saint”. His life, dedicated to exploring, research and natureprotection, finished ret. corvette-captain (french navy) and commandant of the world-famous ship “Calypso”, JAQUES COUSTEAU. He was one of the first honorary-members of the order’s naval division (SAND) and proudly often the “Lord of the seas” has shown SAND’s flag and/or the order’s flag worldwide in solidarity to the humanitarian goals of the order. We will never forget them!
