A Smile A smile costs nothing, but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poor those who give. It takes but a moment, yet the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it. And none is so poor, but that be made rich by it. A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business; And is the countersign of friendship. It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad; And it’s nature’s antidote for trouble. Yet it cannot be bought, borrowed or stolen, For it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile, so give them one of yours. None needs a smile as much as he who has none to give.

In relation to his extraordinary achivements Mr. Riener, these days honoured with the Medal of Honor of Austrian Abert Schweitzer-saciety, wass appointed to hon.member of SAVC.
A very distinguished and rare honour H.E. The Grand Master could receive in january 1998: The Alberta and Northwest Territories Branch of the Royal Life Saving Society Canada awarded to him the rank of HONORARY VOVERNOR (for Austria). Heartliest thanks to our beloved confrere Capt. The Chev. Jack Boddington, Hon.Life Gevernor of RLSSC (now shortly named Lifesaving Society – Canada’s Lifeguarding Experts). Worn as Neck-decoration on a middle blue ribbon, the excellent made insignia (goldened & enamelled) is a combination of the local “national flower”, the prairie-rose, the society’s badge and the british crown (the Queen is patron of RLSSC).
In relation to his aid-operations for sick and needy people in Poland H.E. The Grand Master was honoured with the commander-cross of the Order of St.Stanislas (acting Grand Master is H.E. Count Juliusz Nowina Sokolicki, former president of the polish government in exile).
Your question – our answer: “Is amember of the order allowed to fly the orders flag?” one of our new members in USA asked. The answer: YES, if this is done in a seiously and sistinguished way. Actually the order has no flags in stock, but each member is allowed to let produce a flag for personal using. The relation from L : B has to be 2,5 : 2, models for order ‘s cross and grand badge are deliverable from Grand Master’s office.
As anounced in ST.ANDREW LETTER Oct. 1997 pins with the order’s cross are available; for production of desk-flags a minimal order of 5 would be necessary. Production of a badge for SAVC-members 1998 is planned (silver belt with inscription, 8—pointed cross in dark-blue).
For all those projects we need YOUR annual fee for 1998 or your kindly donation!!
